TL-1TH Bridge

Hey everyone, quick question regarding the bridge distance on the TL-1TH. I haven't seen it discussed before and the bridge featured in the instructional video for the TL is quite different.

Today I attached the neck and scratch plate to my Thinline, and now obviously I'm trying to fix the bridge to the body so that I can finish up my mock build and start painting.

The issue I'm facing at the moment is that the measurement from the nut to the end of the 12th fret - 324mm - when used to determine the position of the bridge, is telling me that the position of the bridge should have it sitting on top of the pickguard. It's kind of hard to explain, but have a look at the photos I've attached. It appears that the bridge is sitting too high on the body of the guitar. Am I missing something?

Hi Patrick,
I just finished building a TL-1TH and don't stress, put the bridge as close to the pickguard as you can but don't drill the holes till you fit the neck and both E strings to get an idea of the bridge alignment. The bridge is normally placed about 3-4mm more than the nut to 12th fret measurement for compensation and you can wind the saddles further forward. See pic attached, sorry I haven't got a close up pic.
my pickup routes were too narrow so I had to modify mine, how do your pickups fit ? you haven't screwed them in, in the photos, I suggest you check this.
Also this model is a bugger to get access to the control cavity when its complete. If you need to modify the wiring you have to unscrew the pickup selector and both vol/tone pot to remove the pickguard as the wire lengths don't allow you to flip the pickguard.

Yeah I picked up on the pickup cavities before. Mine still arent perfect but for the sake of the mockup build I haven't really fixed them yet. I bought a file to help me widen the holes on the side for the feet, but they're still not perfect. Today's work was the hardest part so far, I'm glad it's out of the way!

Hey pshumack, what Wokka said. If you just move the bridge back a few mm until it fits snugly into the recess of the pickguard designed for it, you will find that's the correct position. You've got quite a bit of play in those saddles, so, accounting for the extra 2-3mm you need to compensate for string bend, you should have no trouble with intonation.
