Thread: Hanging a set neck body between coats?

  1. #1
    Hi all,

My LP kit is in transit, and this little issue has just occurred to me.
How do you go about hanging up a set neck body after each coat of finish?
A bolt-on is pretty obvious, but can some of you enlightened chaps pass on your wisdom for set necks?

    Cheers

Other's have used painting pyramids, a broomstick up the jack hole or check out the RC1 thread around at the moment for something quite funky from our friends at StewMac...

...DB's idea. I take no credit for thinking of this one!

    Hi Timsan,

I don't about broomsticks! (it does sound bloody painful! 8O ) ... and unless its a very small diameter broomstick it seems like a delicate balancing act (sort of like spinning plates on a stick!)

Inspired by the idea of one of the other builders who used a biro, I modified it to the "wardrobe chopstick and baling wire" approach myself ... easy, cheap and secure ... until the missus wondered what all my clothes were doing neatly hanging on the floor (when they used to be in the wardrobe!

Wait a minute ... that sounds like Rock and/or Roll!

SG-1 ... "Little Miss" finished in Flamenco Cherry Wudtone
TL-1A ... "Slugger" finished in Antique White Nitro
EX-1 ... "Metal God" finished in nickel-plate (work in progress)
ST-1A ... "Scrapper" stained and finished in linseed oil ... and with the "secret weapon"
GR-1SF ... "Rocker-billy" (just arrived, work in progress)

That looks the business, Scott. I can't say I'd be a fan of a broomstick in the jackhole, either...

Sorry... but I would like to at least pretend that I have some innocence left!
