    Hi all,
I finished my scratch body marri strat on the weekend and am very happy with the results.
Body shape is a strat shape with sharper 'SG' style horns.
The headstock has a camphor veneer and I recessed the tremelo cover.
I had to choose between 3 pickguard colours, a white and ivory pearloid and ended up going with the black pickguard matched the dark grain of the marri.
I thoroughly recommend anyone who has built a few PBG kits to start a scratch body build, it so much more rewarding when its finished and you can design any shape you like ! You don't need many power tools.
I just posted a quick sound demo on the video demo threads.

Hey Wokka, it's not just the horns that are sharp. The whole thing looks gorgeous. Now I'm off to the demo page.

Well done Wokka...what a huge undertaking.
Can only imagine how satisfying it must be to build something like that.
    Great job.
I see in the background the famous guitar shaped door latch on the pizza oven...how cool is that!!

That's nice Warren. I know that all the kit guitars we build end up being unique, but to scratch build your own is so much more uniquerer. I can only imagine the satisfaction.

    Unique and tres cool . . .

Fortune favours the brave - and this brave effort has the result to prove it.
That axe is sharper than the spines on the potted Euphorbia Trigona that set the photo off so nicely.

    Congratulations.

Looks and sounds awesome Wokka. You must be very happy with how it's come out and you should be very proud of your achievement. You've inspired me to give it a try it one day.

    cheers,
    Gav.

Thanks for the comments fellas. Yes it is rewarding building a scratch body axe. We started building pine bodies as they cost about $20 from the big green building glue four pieces together and no big loss if you stuff it up ! We can't wait for the next wood show to stock up on some nice wood slabs !
