Thread: T-Bird/Surf Girl

  1. #1
Hello everyone! I'm thinking of doing a thinline with either a surf green or daphne blue, but I'm not sure if the surf girl and t-bird wudtone finishes would achieve the look that I want.

I hope the finished product would look either like the one on the left or the one in the middle.

I then saw the video on applying wudtone finish (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXYNaHVhm1g) and saw the last guitar finished in 3 coats of T-Bird. Now that's the colour I would want, something like a surf green which is different from the surf girl wudtone.

    So my questions are:

    1. How can I achieve the same colour as the jaguar in the video?
    2. What does the white pigmented coat exactly do before the coloured coat is applied?

I understand that different types of wood response to the different coloured wudtones, but I really hope to get that classic fender surf green/daphne blue colour. At the moment I love both colours! Thanks!

Have you seen Fretworn's TL-1TB in Azure Sky? http://pitbullguitars.com/?page_id=4...wtopic&t=654.0

Yes I have but I think I would prefer a greener tint to it!

The white base coat is mixed with the coloured base coat (or vice versa) so you can lighten the colour to match what you want.

The front has silver highlights. I thought that was appropriate with the amount of chrome hardware the guitar has.

You also need to remember that the grain shows through Wudtone, so it is difficult to get the same sort of finish as the guitars in the picture.

Yeah I won't be able to get a solid colour like the fender ones. Thanks for the help Fretworn.

The T-bird is a solid colour. I was courious myself, I asked DB the other day and he said that T-Bird is indeed a solid colour. I think this would be your best option the get something close to what you pictured.
