Thread: Kids size guitar kits?

  1. #1
Gday Adam, any plans to offer 3/4 size/kids size electrics as kits in the future?

My young kids are dying for me to make them some guitars but there's not much point if they can't even hold a full size guitar up at the moment, so I keep telling them I'll do them some when/if kids size kits become available.

I understand you probably wouldn't sell too many of them, but can you even get them from the factory on special order? If so what shapes are available?

    Cheers
    Matt

    Hey Matt,

I'm sorry, they don't do smaller size kits. In fact I don;t think I've ever seen any 3/4 size kits.

Maybe you can see if you can buy a couple of completed 3/4 guitars on eBay and do them up.

If I hear of anyone making 3/4 size kits, I'll let you know.
    Cheers,

    Adam

Hofner is a 3/4 size bass?

Otherwise agree with AD's. Buy one on e-bay or Cash Converters and do it up!

I've had a quick look into kids basses - Ibanez Mikro's are available, but they have a 28 1/2" scale length, only marginally shorter than a PBG Hofner (at 30")... As such if I go down that path, all the way with PBJ(or G)...

Otherwise for kids, is a nylon string acoustic the best place to start? Softer on the hands and a cheapie Ashton comes in at ~$100...

Yeah they will be starting off on nylon acoustics, they just want what Dad 'has' at the moment

Rattle can black with some sparkley stuff over the top can fix some of that
