Thread: P-Bass re-wiring help please!

  1. #1
A friend of mine put the following up on BookFace, hopefully someone here can point him in the right direction.
Okay, rewiring P-Bass, new soldering iron rocks better than old. Only problem is, have one wire left over. Seems to be some sort of ground wire (attached to a screw in the body next to the pickups), but I've already attached one of those to the bridge and the wiring diagrams I've so far found don't mention this extra wire at all. I'm tempted to say "Sod it. What could possibly go wrong?" but then all sorts of imagery as to what could go wrong flits through my brain and a lot of it involves grieving family.
    Anyone? Anyone?
    Cheers,

Update, said friend having googled wiring diagrams, he further advises as follows:
Looks like it is another ground wire. I've found a wiring diagram for a similar guitar that has a similar bit. Might have to rearrange things a tad. Hmmm...
Looks resolved, but if anyone has anything further, greatly appreciated!

    Cheers,

Hard to tell without seeing a pic, but my first thought would be a ground wire to connect the pickup cavity shielding to the control cavity shielding or ground point.

Here's a pic, for those interested - he seems to have got it working with reference to the diagram here: http://support.fender.com/service_di...0upg1_SISD.pdf.

Yep, ground wire connection for conductive shielding paint in the cavity.
