Thread: New Colour - Olympic Blonde

  1. #1
Ok, so Amaranthine got everyone hot and bothered and took all the limelight. There was another new colour that arrived in the last shipment and slipped under everyone's radar. Olympic Blonde.

This one has me intrigued. How would this look on a Spalty? Maybe the PRS-1S? The LP-1S, or even the HB-4S?

DB, have you got much on mate?

    Cheers,

    Adam

Looking at the Wudtone site, I think it's a whitewash with gold highlights - hence Olympic... Not sure it'd suit a spalty - may mask the grain and different colours - maybe something though with high "linear" grain feature like the IB-5, the LP-1P or the TL-1A.

Add some white pickguards (where absolutely necessary), some gold bling and "pop"!

Edit - just checked the page - as I surmised - unsuitable for maple...

DB - given you're supplying a Paulownia kit - may need to add it to the list of suitable woods...

It's possible just the white base that comes with some of the other colours. I was looking at it and wondering if you could do a semi-translucent white, "Mary Kaye" finish with it. I was even tempted to try it on my Tele but I don't know if it would work with the binding.

It is a lot heavier than just the white base. In answer to Frettys question, I have experimented with using just the white base and the result was YUK!
Too thin on its own, as it is really a vehicle for the coloured bases.

There is always a workaround for glitches, mistakes and other Guitar building gremlins.....
