Thread: Quick Q about applying waterslide decal

  1. #1
Hey fellas, I'm about stain my neck tonight and I am planning on adding a waterslide decal to the headstock at some stage. Is it best to add the decal to the bare wood, then apply the finish over the top or can I apply the base/top coats on the headstock first, and THEN add the decal ontop (and then I assume seal over with more finish?)

It's just I wanted to get into it tonight but don't have a decal sorted yet - and would like to know the best time to apply it!

    Cheers in advance
    Matt

How about a 50 / 50 - between the base coats and the clear top coats... I think if you try to stain over what is in reality a bit of plastic, you'll get a different colour. If you wait till you've finished the top coats, it'll blow out your time to finish...

Cheers for that, sounds like the way to go.
