Thread: Rickenbacker 4000 bass?

  1. #1
Amid all the other new ideas (Community Kit, Baritone(s) etc.) I was wondering if anyone has already suggested a Rick 4000 Bass?

I would be very keen to build one of these.

After I finish this ST...and the SG on order, plus the ST-L that's coming....then there's the LP custom, oh and the 2 Baritones. Damn it I think I may have a real problem?

    HA!!!

Yeah I've got that...had it for years, but it's getting worse courtesy of PB Guitars!

I've been thinking of the 4000 series - into the more unusual looks. I'd be open for one of these at some stage (no point in having 1/2 a dozen undone kits sitting in my tin shed outside cooking during summer).

Issue like Ray - current list - with Baritone (if it happens), still got Hoffner, IB-5, Jazz Bass, YB-4 and seriously thinking of a black RC-1. Add a Ric bass and that's 6...

Mind you, I'm due to visit my brother in Canberra who's into furniture making and has kitted himself out with some neat gear, can buy a plan online, so may scratchbuild one of these some time in the distant future... maybe... (that is if there's not a kit around).

    +1 to Rays suggestion.

In the middle of watching the classic albums DVD for Rush 2112/Moving Pictures right at the moment, and Geddy Lee's Rickenbacker is such a beautiful looking and sounding Bass, I'd love something like that (and now everyone says Rush? Geddy Lee? Who's that...or maybe not...hope there's some Rush fans out there).

Perhaps we should aim for something a little more delicate and subtle.

No probelm with Rush - Caress of Steel was a major music moment for me.

Brendan, what are your guitars doing in the shed? Doesn't your significant other allow them inside the house on hot days?

Oh God. That's the prettiest ugly bass I have ever seen.
