Beautiful work Gavin.
My desire to build an acoustic has just risen some what!
Do you know anything about the acoustic kits that our friends at Stewmac supply? are they worth the 500 large?
There's no question that they are worth the $500 or so, remember you need to add strings and tuners as these are not supplied.Quote from dingobass on January 15, 2013, 15:00

However, some subtle (maybe not so Subtle) change that I would make is to use a bearclaw or adirondack soundboard. They use an 'ok' sitka spruce but if you want a quality sound it's worth the extra dollars...around $80 for bearclaw and $150 for the Adirondack.
Other than that as long as you have the moulds and accessories you can build a beautiful guitar...assessories such as mini-clamps or pegs for the kerfing, go-bar deck, clamps to glue soundboard and back to the sides....
The sides in the kits come pre-bent, but if you do order a seperate soundboard let me know and I will help you join the two bookmatching pieces together, as well as routing the soundhole and rosette...

Actually both these guitars that you see here come from the StewMac plans of the Martin '000' and Martin D28 (dreadnought).
Ah, yes, you might want to look at wood binding too...really makes for a beautiful looking guitar!

We can't have that. Perhaps its time for a visit to the lair? When are you likely to be in the northern burbs? Don't need to be limited to the Stewmac or LMII catelog. I have a few contacts where we can get some bubinga, wenge, ebony, madagascar rosewood, honduran Rosewood, maccassar, monkey Pod....and a host of other. Come see the selection I have, it will point you in the right direction. Plus I can bend the sides and the binding for you.Quote from dingobass on January 15, 2013, 18:27
