Build number……. Well, a lot. TLB Tele bass

It has been a busy lockdown, almost one guitar a month!!! So, now I have 4 to fettle with and complete. I couldn’t resist the TLB kit on special offer, so here is another!
Anyhow, bought a nice single coil pickup and asked for a set of lefty tuners.
    Plans…
    Cut a left hand headstock
Work out what to do with the 3 way switch in the control plate - suggestions? I do have a spare musicman style humbucker I could rout in, but I have a real musicman, lovely to play not 100% on the sound so I think probably not. With a single coil, anything else I could do?
We are about to come out of lockdown so I’m expecting the building to slow!!!

    That’s a possibility, but it’s a precision body… but close.
    Nice idea
Anyone played one of those pickups? No idea what they sound like?

Oh yes, now that really hits the spot. That is perfect, just with the upside down headstock too. Damn, that looks cool, not so sure about Frank's drum kit tho'.
I could cut the existing tele plate down and fill the hole too. I guess there is no real use for the 3 way with one single coil?!

I've suggested doing a Fender Esquire style control system in the past, just to use the switch. This gives volume control only, volume and tone, and volume + fixed capacitor for a fixed very bassy sound.

If you had a humbucker or mini-humbucker, you could use it for series/parallel/split operation.

Though I'd probably use a 500k volume pot with a humbucker.

    Nice idea!
It is either that or fill the hole and cut down the plate
Just doing some prelim measurements for the headstock. I made a template of the frankenbass to use for this. The paddle isn’t the right shape for a standard fender headstock, it is symmetrical so for 2 per side, but I think I can squeeze an upside down Tele headstock just

Cool project. Have you got the beard to match?

"It is either that or fill the hole and cut down the plate". Or a larger pick guard to cover the hole!
