Before dive into finishing my friends kit, I've trained with a basswood body that was around for a year.
Sanded it to 240 grit, stained with Crimson Guitars Stunning Stains, sanding sealer (1 coat) and then 1 coat of Crimson's Penetrating Oil....
Still curing after second coat. Two more coats but this time with the Crimson Guitars High Build Guitar Finishing Oil (see what happens)...
And, time to start thinking to prep the neck. The neck is from Pitbull Guitars....
One question: fretwork then lacquer the neck? or the opposite?
Lacquer then fretwork. You'll clean the lacquer off the frets at the same time you're doing the fretwork. Otherwise you'll get the frets polished, get them covered in lacquer, then have to scrape and polish the frets again.
