No worries, I won't worry about getting any credit for my phone tomorrow, it just doesn't make sense, I can use my time offline more constructively anyway, I'll probably be busy working on finishing the demo tomorrow going by the number of hissy-fits my DAW PC has had so far since I started working on it, I've ended up having to switch from using my Digi002 Audio Interface to my Saffire Pro 40 just to get my DAW PC to run more stable, I think my Digi002 might be getting a bit worn out.

I've decided to go ahead and re-record the bassline till I get it right cause my playing on it was a bit rough, nothing is better at revealing the flaws in your playing than Digital Audio recording, I reckon.

Just realized that we're at page 87 in this fascinating, epic thread....lol.

Doc do you have the digital 002 rack or desk type and what drivers are you running I think latest is 9.0.8.
The digital 002 needs a Texas Instruments chip FireWire card I believe to function properly Doc. So check you have latest Drivers installed. If that's ok take out your FireWire card and check it's got Texas Instruments chipset on the FireWire board for PC. Probably labelled TI.

These are compatible Texas Instrument FireWire cards for the digital 002 Doc

Doc that is the beauty of recording, if you aren't happy with a take, re-record it. Plus you probably don't play bass much and it makes you appreciate much thinner strings of a guitar !

page 87, I bet when I log on Saturday morning this thread will be in the 90's hhaha

Yeah, my Digi002 is the Rackmount version, a good mate of mine gave it to me for nothing, I think I've got the most recent drivers for it installed, but I guess it won't hurt to check, the motherboard for my DAW PC has an integrated Firewire Port on it and I added a PCI card that has an extra two ports on it, the integrated Firewire port uses an Etron chipset which seems to work fine with my Saffire Pro40, not sure what chipset the PCI card uses, maybe I should see if I can get a Firewire PCI card that uses a Texas Instruments chipset then?

Yep, I agree, whereas in the bad old days when recording studios used the analog tape system there was a limit to the number of times you could record till the tape literally wore out, I do play a bit of bass but not as often as I should.

I've got the second take of the bassline laid-down and it sounds much better than the first take, the playing is a bit tighter, I'm just playing straight 16th notes and it seems to gel with the drums a lot better than the first take, I've also changed key from G to E so that it's easier for me to come up with a rhythm guitar part.

If you can use a separate FireWire card that has Ti chipset you'll enjoy using the digi 002 so much more. Doc If you make sure it's Avid compatible too most important. Sounds like your having fun, having a recording project Doc.

Just wondering, would you guys like me to post a link to a quick and dirty demo clip of what I've got so far?, it's just the drum tracks and the Bassline I've just laid down, I can post a link to it here if you're interested.
