Hi Muzza, that looks good. Did you do the front too?

Post #61 above shows the front. I have fixed where the veneer came adrift and applied the stain.
[Edit:] Oh, you mean did I angle the top as well? No. I wanted to, but it's got binding, so... no.

I applied what I'd hoped was the final DT MKII stain coat on Sunday morning. It's been in a de-humidified room averaging 55% since Sunday.
Now it's Wednesday night and it's still wet.
However, the stain coat I accidentally applied over the intensifier coat on my other build is now dry. Go figure...

Hey Muzza, kit's looking good. Just dropped by your thread to say that is a beautiful dog in your profile pic. Assume he/she is yours. About time we started a "Dogs of Build Your Own Guitar" thread.
Cheers,

Thanks Adam. I had already introduced 'Angus' in my 'Welcome' thread, so I'll copy that post over.

Something weird going on. There are dozens of tiny surface cracks all over the face.
They only really became apparent when I applied the Intensifying coat. (BTW, that intensifying coat is WAAY thicker than the stain coat.)
I wonder if it's because I'm only a few microns off sanding through the veneer?

I would say your theory would be right. The veneer being that thin would show up cracks caused when the veneer was wrapped over the arched top.
Funny thing is, I would almost kill to get that crackle style finish to work on some of my builds..........
The one thing in it's favour, I guess, is that it's pretty well evenly spread all over the surface. I'll just tell people I did it on purpose...![]()

Moisture got through the veneer at a guess, i have alittle of the same on my 12 string but i like it, give it that rustic appearance i was after.
