Bringing up and older post but...
He'd probably have his GoPro strapped to the neck too for that

love the veneer on the headstock, out of interest how much did it set you back for a big enough bit to do the headstock?

Hi Ben, if you have a look up this guy is my and DB's new favourite wood supplier he is in Naval Base
    http://thetimberbloke.com.au/

I got a sheet of the tiger maple veneer was roughly 1m long and about 350mm wide cost me $20 and that would be enough for a guitar body veneer and several headstocks.
We went last Friday and he had maybe 6 or so of these sheets left after myself and DB piled up the ute

Yhep, the wood bloke is a, well, good bloke.

Woks and I did cherry pick the best bits but there were still some nice pieces left.
Well worth giving him a call and heading out to see what he has in stock.

Be warned though, there are some very nice chunks of tree out there and a change of trousers is advised for the first time visitor

There is always a workaround for glitches, mistakes and other Guitar building gremlins.....

Hey Ben as DB says !
I just measured the tiger maple veneers and it is about 940mm long and 300mm wide.
If you just want it for headstock veneers I reckon you would get at least 15-18 out of one sheet so that makes it just over $1 per HS veneer ! THat gives you a few spares if you tear one or mess one up. Trust me I've had to re-do multiple HS veneers not being careful enough.
Note we have seen Derek the timber bloke 3 times and he may have given us a discount but shouldn't be any more than $25
