Well hell can I at least pick my own coffin?!
Guess I should pack my bags and head for the naughty room before I even start my first build.

Neck glued on! Slow but steady progress. Just received my back order pot upgrade and bone nut from PBG (thanks for the fast turnaround!)

Back cavity shielded, just a 24hr wait until I can get onto the home straight..

I'm loving this kit, especially weight wise. The SG is nice and light with basswood, good for my shoulders and bung back.

Just when I thought I was done, off comes a screw head when fixing on the truss rod cover... Not sure why, all lubricated etc must have been a dud.

Time to drill a hole for some dowel. Just happen to have a dowel drilling jig and some 6mm hardwood dowel laying around that will do the trick. I'll glue this in with some Titebond, leave 24 hrs then make good with some Timbermate. After that sand back the headstock.

Whoops the plastic nut came off! I'll replace now with the bone nut that was waiting for my next project..
Righty oh, once this is patched time to veneer the headstock, any good suppliers out there?

Time to get this patched up. I cut a piece of hardwood dowel to the correct depth and inserted with a nice dab of Titebond. Made good a small tear next to the dowel with a mix of sawdust, black colortone and Titebond. Sawdust was easy to generate in a sawing block cutting about 3 pieces of the dowel rod. This should in theory sand back nicely but I'll wait and see..

I've also found a spare Les Paul truss rod cover hidden in one of my many (women's) shoebox storage containers (I seem to have as many of these shoe boxes as guitars..). This cover is wider at the base and looks like it will cover the patch.

With the dowel plug curing for at least 24hrs time to move onto the bottom end..
