I really want to thank DB and Woks for their advice. I did an experiment on a piece of scrap wood on which I did a couple coats of clear. not because I doubted their advice but to see what happens. Let it cure for 5 days and then hit it with 800 grit wet/dry paper and there were these white patches in the finish. Obviously clear coats not cured. Thanks boys, I'll buy you a beer if ever we meet.
That is looking the business! Beautiful shade of Blue that. Well done Salo, the patience torture has really paid off!

I'm about to start on the wiring. I have studied the wiring diagram for LP-1 and watched Adam's wiring video. My question is the earth wiring which is grounded to the TOM bridge, what is it then attached to?

Your options are to have the bare wire up the side of the anchor stud when you knock it in, or as i do, i screw the bridge down with the wire between the stud and the screw.

Thanks Tony. That bit I'm familiar with, it's the other end of the wire I don't know what to attach it to.

Normal practice is to solder it to the casing of the tone pot.

There is always a workaround for glitches, mistakes and other Guitar building gremlins.....

Hi Salo, solder the earth wire to the back of one of the pots, usually volume pot but can be tone pot. If you are not using copper shielding in the control cavity then all pots and switch have to be earthed to the common earth point of that pot

PS those videos are about 4 years old and need to be updated !
