To be honest Devon, I reckon you could possibly do a bit more work on that burst and really make it stand out. Just like in your nebular pic, the colours fade into one another seamlessly. I reckon to really achieve your "burst" you could maybe push the purple on the outside edge of the body a bit further into the centre (see pic).
Just a thought man but it just looks a little blotchy and unfinished, take it or leave it.
Nice colour choice btw, love it!

    Thanks stan, DB.
It's been challenging but good learning exercise.

I'll definitely check out a HVLP.

I thought i'd give it one last go. Just had to be careful with spray can, hard to control but I think this is going to be the best i'm going to get with out a proper spray Has some nice new "features" now too lol.
If you look at the close up you can see how splotchy it is, prob not going to be able to pro level burst without something like an air brush but I'm fairly happy with it.

That looks 100X better man, you'll be glad you took the time to refine it when it's all finished, great job!

Just looking at the overspray mate, get your can moving before pressing the nozzel, and keep it moving after you let go : it will help the starts and stops look more even.
Same thing when you step up the a sprayer

So sanded it back to mostly whitish dots, I don't hate this enough enough to redo the whole back.
    So I guess it stays

The problem is the glitter flecks are too big, will shop around for sand grain sized dots.
Actually, I do hate it enough to sand the whole back down again. Here we go again.

Bummer. You need to look for metal flake rather than glitter. Paint shop rather than art supplies.

    Something like this

Also, once the flake goes down, you shouldn't sand, just need to bury it in clear. Sanding it will take colour off the flake and give you silver spots as you discovered.

What Pabs said ^ have another go mate - instruments last for years, sanding back takes hours (and tired forearms)

You can even get spray paint cans with metal flakes in it man so ask your paint supplier about that before you go ahead with it bro. It's all worth the effort in the end man! 😊
For some things, some times, it's the same time all over the world, and I think we know what time that is...

Hey Devon I agree with Pabs, Nicko and Kurt,
look for some metallic paint. Should make the job much easier.
On the upside you are learning so much from this build and probably have forearms like Popeye !
