Hey Tony, clearly the stuff Pabs and myself are referring to were severely watered down versions of what you may have on hand and presume you bought it direct from the States?

My J Bass is coming along how I would have expected Color Tone Cherry Red to be straight out of the bottle yet had to experiment with other stuff to bring it around to somewhat decent enough colour to use.

I was struggling to achieve a solid green for my build with stamp ink and other color based dyes so i picked up an acrylic bright green at a hobby store for painters etc. Mixes with water pretty well and it works great it holds it colour really well and kind of seals pff the grain too without hiding it. Just take care to use a clear paint (as indicated by the empty square) or you'll end up covering the grain.

    Thanks Kimball and Wokks

Each maple neck obviously weigh the same as any other kit. When I picked up the basswood body I was really surprised as to how light it is! For a small moment I thought geez I hope this doesn't feel like a cheap model of a guitar.

When I put the full set up on, especially the 18 tuners, it becomes quite heavy, but actually not too bad. At that point I was thinking, thank god this body is made of basswood, I couldn't imagine standing at a gig and playing a solid mahogany one for any length of time.

The main problem is that the headstocks with the tuners outweigh the entire guitar, so its unlikely to hang well on a shoulder strap.

I have noticed the bigger surface area to prep...I think this is going to take a while.

.......to the tune of Elton John....I'm still sandin', yeah, yeah, yeah....
