Progressing nicely!
Oh boy. It's been a while since I've updated this hasn't it. I got caught up in some other life stuff, and honestly, just kind of forgot about this thread for a bit. So apologies for that guys. I've still been pushing through with the build, so here's a big ol' update. I'll drop the majority of text in this post, then it'll be mostly pics from there, but I've been a bit slack on photographing progress. Hopefully I'll remember to patch that up next week.
So the first thing, in my last post I "realised" that the angle where the neck ends and headstock begins was wrong. Well that realisation was what was actually wrong. I got a fullsize fretboard template printed out, and it was totally correct. On that note, we did up a fret slotting jig (based off this design: http://www.anzlf.com/viewtopic.php?t=2094 ), and cut the frets. The fretboard has also now been radiused and stuck on to the neck, so just the inlays and frets to go there.
On the back of the neck, that's a good way done too. The neck has been shaped, and is nice and fat (none of this Wizard-y shred bs because I can't shred) We've got to do some work on the heel, because I shaved a bit off the corner of it, but we've got a couple of blocks glued on there now, and will take it back down next lesson. Then it will just be carving the heel in to be nice and smooth in order to give us a complete neck!!
For the body: The chambers have been routed, and a couple of wiring channels under the Jarrah, the F-holes in the Jarrah have been cut out too, and I'm really happy with how they've come out. And also, the top is now glued down! I've also cut the body down to its rough shape, so there's basically just a few mms that need to be routed off the sides to fit them with my templates. Then it will just be pickup cavities, a cavity for the electronics, and the neck pocket, and the body will be complete!!
So yea, we're getting pretty darn close to done, or so it feels. Hopefully no other major snags, and it'll be done nice and soon. Now time for a pic dump!!

Alright, got pictures of the stuff I said I'd get pictures of. And then forgot to get more pictures at the end of the lesson after more work had been done. So here's the pics, and then the extra progress after.
Roughly cut body
Neck with wings to fix me spokeshaving too much off earlier
The body is half routed down to match the template. Ran out of time today so didn't get it all the way done, but it should be a quick job on Friday. The wings on the neck have been planed off to level, will still need to carve them in to get them smooth, but at least we're back in the right sort of zone there.
looking great B'Lark. I'd look at routing the neck pocket soon, so you will need to sort out the neck heel first to take measurements. You may need a large neck pocket template as there's not much meat of the body to rest it on. Good luck !
