    WooHoo!!!!

I just got a notification in my email saying that my PBG STA-1M kit is on it's way to me, the wait will be worth it, I'm pretty keen to see what the body and neck is like straight out of the box, I will be sure to document the unboxing with some pics, next fortnight I'm planning on buying a new Digital Camera to replace my old Canon A480 that chews through batteries like nobody's business.

I looked into the break angle from the trem bridge thing a while ago for my Frankienstrat build, as well as getting rid of all the other break string angles as possible.

I ended up getting some GOTOH HAPM tuners... these are infinitely height adjustable, great tuners, but I had to import them, and they have their idiosyncrasies ....but, what I mean is, get staggered tuners, plenty cheaper than the ones I bought.....you can get rid of one friction point by using them.... and that's the string trees.

The BEST find though, was the Trem bridge.... it ticks all the boxes.
Solid steel trem block around 14mm thick, countersunk string holes in that trem block, result is that the end of you strings wrap wires are protuding out of the saddles, result is a very shallow string break angle... buy the way the string saddles are solid steel as well.

So what brand is the trem bridge, as how many kidney's do you need to sell to get one ?

It's a Wilkinson 5 + 1 bridge made by GOTH Japan, current Aus price at Realtone is about AUS $65...push in trem arm adjustable by small screw at side of bridge ....it's the real deal...recommended.
    http://www.realparts.com.au/bridges-...style.html?p=3

With the Tuners and trem I can dive bomb to the max and up to the max, several times....let the trem arm go and the guitar will still be in tune.

I used to use the original Guitar player special editon mag Strat setup mag from 87 to set up my Strats

This guy in Italy that posted a series of videos on how to set up a Strat makes those look like nonsense.
Watch these videos,...... I thought I knew how to set up a Strat, and for years I did..but now after viewing these videos...Wrong...this guy will have your Strat set up better than you could ever imagine....you will love the spring tuning section using a digital tuner to get it exact, and repeatable.

I would like them to become a STICKY at the forum...please view then and post your views.
I have NO contact with this Italian guy at all....I just think he needs to be heard, as his video tutorials are brilliant.

Set up your Strat for best Tremelo use.

Woohoo!!!....according to Australia Post tracking, my PBG STA-1M kit should be arriving in the post on the 25th this week, that's another three days from today.

On other things, last week while I was getting some of my stuff back home from uni I stopped in at the Sounds Of Music shop in Casuarina to buy a set of Elixir 46-10 gauge strings, and I saw some Fender Mustang amps on display near the checkout counter
So I thought I would check them out, one model that really piqued my interest was the Fender Mustang 3, it's a 100 Watt 1X12 Combo Digital Modelling amp, once I got home I went online and did some youtube browsing for demo videos of the Mustang 3, I was pretty impressed with the sounds and what it could do, so I'm going to see if I can put one on Lay By at sounds Of Music.

Should be a great gigging amp.

    Update:

I have just checked the postal tracking on my PBG STA1-M kit and according to it, the kit is at the Winnellie Post Office just up the road from where I live......is he excited?....excited he is!!!

Here's what the latest postal tracking update says:

    In transit
    Processed through Australia Post facility
    12:23pm Tue 23 Feb
    Winnellie, NT

Hopefully I should have my kit at home by the end of this week or maybe next week, I'll upload some un-boxing pics and do a test fit.

    Stay tuned for more updates.

For sure, I'll be able to visit the Big Green Shed to buy the cans of spray paint, etc I'll need to start building the guitar next Tuesday, till then, I'll work on my shopping list so I'm all organized.

Depending on what kind of tone cap is supplied in the kit I might pop into Jaycar Electronics and buy a 630V DC Greencap that's the same value as the one supplied since Jaycar is just across the road from the Big Green Shed.

Might see if I can buy some wood files, a fretsaw or coping saw for cutting out the headstock shape, some good quality sandpaper and sanding block, wood sealer/primer, timbermate (if they have it in stock), some kind of drill guide for keeping the drill 90 degrees to the wood, paintbrushes (if needed), and anything else I may need, they may have adhesive copper foil or something similar, I may be able to buy conductive paint too.

So the question is, if I'm going to be spray painting the body a solid gold acrylic colour, what would be the best product to use to prep the body prior to spray painting?, I'm going to be using Gloss Clear Lacquer once the Gold paint has fully dried, I'm assuming that I'll probably need some Automotive cut and polish and swirl remover.

Hey DrNomis, you'll find the adhesive copper tape in the 'garden pest and weed control' aisle in the big breen shed...
It's sold as 'Snail and Slug Barrier Insect Trap' (http://www.bunnings.com.au/on-guard-...-trap_p3010314.
Haven't seen a single snail on my STA1 since I used that! :-)

That should be perfect for use in shielding in a guitar, being copper it will be easily solder-able, I might do some hardcore shielding in my STA-1M kit build then, cheers.

It works great. I didn't solder much between each part of copper tape on my STA1M.
As long as you overlap them a little bit you get very good conductivity between them.

    Is the adhesive conductive?
