looks good Tony, bonus your kit having flame maple on the back. What colour stain is it ? I haven't been following the diary that frequently

The top should be easy, the back was a nightmare, i guess i put 6 hours into the back today, probably 10+ hours all up on it.
It pays to put things away when you think they have you defeated then attack from another angle another day. I was going to sand the back off next so i had nothing to lose by trying to fix it, not caring anymore about going through the veneer helped.
thats good advice Tony if you are stumped or just plain not happy with progress put it away till the next day and come back with a fresh mind.
I play kakuro puzzles and often get stumped and look at it the next day and figure it out

@wokka yeh mate i learnt that a long time ago, its better to walk away, than throw it against the bricks
@Swanny thanks mate as you know it can be hard work, each guitar has its good and bad points. Quite happy with the colour, its a bit of an accident, but i am going to stick with it, neck and all, well at least until tomorrow and i change my mind![]()
The back looks awesome now! Still sucks that you had to spend 10+ hours on it but the result looks so good now compared to where you started. Well done. Gives me hope that if I encounter the same thing when I get my kits, that I should just keep at it.
thanks Peter, lucky sanding for me is therapeutic haha.
My older brother, a Luthier for 60years, told me when i was a kid to build guitars and repair guitars, you will make more than you ever will playing gigs. I am too restless to be at a bench all day, even though from a very early age i was winding pickups and doing tech stuff, i just couldnt get into it. In hindsight which is 20/20, i probably should of done what he said instead of gigging and trying to make ends meet by working as a laborer as well.
Great work there Tony, persistence is paying off
