Thread: Trev's 1st Build - TLA-1

  1. #41
Getting some strings on tonight almost ready for a setup.
Had to order a new switch tip as the one I have is too small! Can’t believe I stuffed that one up!

Check out the reflection of the work light

Chuck a strat switch tip on there! Surely you've got one them kicking around. (doesn't everybody?)
That's what I do on all my tele's I don't like the barrel or top hat ones.

I normally just file the end of the switch smaller until it fits in the slot!

Haha McCreed plenty of em around but they are all white or off white, never thought about using a strat tip on a tele.

Cheers for pointing out the obvious Simon the thought didn’t even cross my mind at the time, I was just impatient and went straight to trying to find one online.
Filed it down this morning and made the one I had fit.

On to the set up later today

    And it’s done!!!
Really really happy with how it looks and how it plays.
Thanks to everyone who gave me some advise along the way. This forum is so giving to people who are just starting out and asking silly questions.

Here are some photos of it all finished.

It looks really good. Nothing to fault at all. You've done very well indeed.

And there's no such thing as a silly question if it's genuine, so never feel afraid to ask. It's not asking that would be stupid.

Yep, that's one sweet looking tele!
And it's a bonus that it plays and sound great too! (not always the case unfortunately)

Good choice using an electro-socket. They're excellent.

    Cheers guys

Good spotting on the electro-socket McCreed.
Glad I added it in, took a bit of extra work to make it sit flat but worth it
