    Binding Fix:

I recall Simon B having to paint the binding a cream colour on one of his builds due to cracks. I think he hand painted the binding.

I think I would round over the sharp edge and spray solid on the sides and burst on the front to cover the binding.
    PitBull Builds: FVB-4, LP-1SS, FBM-1, AG-2, TB-4, SSCM-1, TLA-1,TL-1TB, STA-1HT, DSCM-1 Truckster, ST-1, STA-1, MBM-1, MBM custom, GHR-1 (Resonator), FH-5V (Acoustic), DMS-1 (Mustang).

Scratch Builds: Pine Explorer, Axe Bass, Mr Scary, Scratchy Tele's.

The little voices in my head keep telling me "build more guitars"

hey chaps been having new flooring put in the whole of my house today was 1st day I managed to get some work done. I got both bodys dyed and have done the burst on them the quilted 1 I used Rit daffodil yellow dye and Rit dye racing Red on the back and used a Baltic stain to do the burst I like a softer burst, I've put 3 coats of sealer on the back and neck over the dye which does darken it a bit, the salted maple 1 I've use Rit dye daffodil yellow on front and a very thin down mahogany stain on the back and a black burst.

I've only put 1 coat of sealer on the salted 1, 1 so far but will put at least 1 more on it the dyes are from their new line which work a lot better the salted 1 I have scraped out the old binding prick of a job to do and replacing it with the same cream binding which arrived today so ill be doing that before I set the necks.

I've had the 2k clear came as well so their both getting a 2k clear, its a new clear I've not used before but apparently its has a mirror finish so thought I'd buy a litre and try it so far they are going to plan the quilted 1 the Binding has some cracks but think I can touch the up I just got to color match it easy enough here some pic's of progress

    salted maple

    Quilted maple

    rut dyes I've used

had a great week end got heaps done and a few repairs on a couple of Strat bodies and got them all in 2pack clear I used a different brand and I loved it very easy to spray and laid down very flat, has a ripper shine

here a strat I repaired and I put another 2 cost of candy apple green and put 9 coats of clear on it sprayed in sets of 3 to give it a bit to really flash off I'm quite happy with it and will look very nice when its polished, I'm thinking about doing my tele with the 2 pack which will be a lot tougher than lacquer, looks green under lights its not black

this is the squire I put a huge chip in the paint which I had to repair and I've put just 3 coats on him

ok here are the 2 Les Pauls the painting is finish and ready to cut and polish I put 12 coats of 2 pack clear I don't know if it a MS or a HS as has no info on the tin, I'm thinking is an epoxy as its so easy to spray and even at 2.1 hardener it takes longer to flash and takes a day before you can do anything with it, a normal 2k its touch dry in a hour and harder overnight. if you have never used a 2k before and a little worried about running it would be good for you ill pop a link to it, as for use I got these 4 guitars done with just a whisker over 500ml which is very economical which is 6-7 Les Pauls from a litre of it highly recommended it for everyone

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/176337833650

should have them finished in a couple of days as have an appointment at hospital on Wednesday, I'm quite chuft with them the new binding went great as it can mess up a good body very easily, the squire will be a give away which is 3 Strats that ill give away at Xmas I picked up a new SX Strat which is a keeper they are 1 of my favorite Strats their arguably the best Strat you can buy under $250aud, ill be looking for some more to do maybe a tele or a super Strat kit, I quite like the gem kit but don't like the price especially the Floyd rose on them aren't very good as have done a couple before

    Some real beauties here!

I also have to agree with you about the SX's. My FrankenJazz Bass started as one of theirs. Really nice quality for the money. If what I understand about them is true, they were the house brand of FrankenFender for a shop in New Jersey. To keep them budget friendly they moved production to Asia. I don't know if that's true, but what I do know is that they are now owned by Team International, which has farmed out manufacturing to mainland China. An Australian company has partnered with them for distribution. There *used* to be a US company that had done the same and they were pretty popular, particularly as a base for modding and hot rodding, but the US company is phasing out SX's. More's the pity. They were great while they lasted.

Magic stuff SX bass, a few guy I've seen on youtube who do reviews have reviewed a few SX Vintage Strats every one who picks 1 up love them prior to all this crazy stuff affecting prices you could buy a new 1 just a whisker over $200AUD thats about $110-$120USD thats darn cheap for something that plays and sounds that good. I've not done any work for a week, the other Les I just wasn't happy with the binding so have ordered a new 1 ran out of 2k clear and cutting compound. have ordered new stuff waiting for delivery, I had to go to the doctors Tues and Wednesday so I figured while I'm cruzing id drop into a couple of cashier's I haven't done for a couple of years 1 had a wall of guitars in great condition, I spyed a guitar I been looking for ages.

Its a mint J&d luthiers Les Paul custom its the 1s that were built pre law suite, I kid you not if it wasn't for the headstock you would think your were looking at a gibson Les Paul even the true rod cover is identical to a Gibson mahog body and neck soon as I seen it I wanted it, got couple of edge chips came with hard case $395AUD brought home plug him into my Marshall dsl and wow it sounded frigin amazing super low action I played it all day I couldn't put it down I just got to figure out the back stain colour im thinking it may be oak not 100% bit of trial and error needed, it will get the full treatment and look new and go into my favourite guitar rack I've got 7 J&D's 5 Les Pauls and 2 SG's yep I'm a fanboy. I'm currently putting a new motor into my car which I spent $55K on it still got a few bits to buy

when its done im going to buy a AM Strat & AM Tele and a Gibson Paul Black Beauty wanted 1 for years my missus would cut my nuts off if I spend that sort of money so close to doing the car, I want to grab a couple of genuine gibson 57 pick ups for 1 of my SG's im a huge Angus/Malcom young and Aussie and a fan and Rick Brewster from the Angles I knew Doc I only was talking to him a month before he died he was a great guy, I know a few Adelaide musos
