Do you have any off cuts of veneer to shim it? otherwise I'd fill it

Cheers Guys, yeah breaking the horn was a low point, but actually repaired really well thankfully.

I had a better look at it today. The pocket is actually wedge shaped so the gap is only towards the top and it looks likeI've got a good grab with the tight bond.

I don't have any veneer handy, and I didn't want to mess up the stain in that area as it would be difficult to sand and repair. I elected to squeeze some epoxy into the gap from the pickup cavity side. Clearly the neck is not coming off now so hopefully all my pedantic measuring pays off. There is still a small gap at the top, but I'm pretty sure I can fill it with clear and you'll never spot it.

I also blacked out the pickup routes, I'm thinking I'll use the Alumintones in this because they will suit the look. They are slightly smaller than hum buckers so keeping everything in there tidy will help it look right.

I also messed around with some chrome vinyl letters for the headstock, but couldn't make them look tidy enough so I'll find another solution for that.

Hopefully onto clear coat in the next couple of days.

Pretty much ready to clear this thing but its way too hot and humid - looks like a nice big storm is rolling in so I'll exercise some patience.

I'm still a bit undecided with the headstock decal. I had a mess around with some foil today for shits and giggles. I don't mind this look.

I might go and get some vinyl cut-off a few different ideas. I miss having ready access to plotters and bits of vinyl offcuts. I am casually keeping and eye on gumtree for a cheapy to have at home. I like stickers .

I've bought clear gloss. But I am also considering a flat or satin finish. I think the gloss will probably highlight the grain better, but it looks pretty mean all flat. What do people think?

The problem at the moment is it marks when you touch it. A light sand with 1500 makes them disappear, so I'll do that right before spraying.

Like an IDIOT I decided to give it a light sealing coat of clear last night. It felt cool and dry enough, but obviously there was waaay too much humidity in the air as about 20 secs in I got clouding.

Its not a massive issue I just need to sand it back- hoping I won't go thru to the stain, its only a very light coat. But yeah, if you see this in your clear finish its because the spraying conditions are not right - too much water in the air. Which I fully knew.

Few more days of hot, humid showers forecast so I'm going to hang it and spend some time actually playing guitar I think.

I threw caution to the wind and did a another light clear coat early this morning. A tiny bit of clouding, so I didn't push it. I've let it hang in the shed all day and is basically touch dry, so these photos are a couple of minutes apart. Inside under fluros its black as night, when you look closely you can see the lighter grain in grey.

But then when you take it out into the sun and hold it at the right angle....boom!

Not planned at all, but this looks freakin' cool. I will patiently sand and add more clears over the next couple of weeks until I can buff it back.
