yeah sounds like a plan Andy, if you move the pot location then the spacings of the 4 pots won't be the same.
a broom handle might be the perfect diameter to plug the jack hole

Hi Andy, look at what I just found on eBay......might provide a template for the end goal perhaps?

Like all SG's this sucker has the input on top rather then entering from the rear edge. Interesting to not difference in centre scratch/switch plate design/layout too?
The eBay page has about 50 photos to scroll through.

@ Andy40 You might be able to plug the existing hole for the output jack with a suitably-sized piece of Dowel and then sand it flush with the body, then you could move the location of the output jack to the top of the body as shown in the pic that Wazkelly posted.
On closer inspection the PBG kit has the Volume & Tone pots towards rear end of that cavity therefore not leaving any room to come in from the top unless doing so in front of those controls which would look ugly and not work so well. Only other solution is to plug the hole and run another plate hole in between those two rear most pots, meaning output jack hole would move a bit more around back edge towards strap button.
Or you could do a Rickenbacker and have a dummy plate as if it were a stereo perhaps and therefore save having to plug and match timbers if trying for a timber stain rather than solid colour? You would need to leave that output jack in there but cut the lugs off from the inside otherwise you have nothing for outer retainer nut to fasten onto.
Another fix if coming in from the top would be to drill a hole in front of those 4 to relocate a pot and the spare hole on top could be used for the output jack as it looks like that was how it was done on the Gibson. The 4 pots are more offset rather than in a square pattern. They have one of the pots right at the rear edge of the bridge and it looks like there is plenty of room up that end of the control cavity if that is what you choose to do.

I see what you mean Waz. Thats a pretty good idea. I agree, it looks like what has been done on the Gibson. I'll just have to check of the control rout is deep enough for the jack.
@ Wokks and Doc. Those are good ideas guys on plugging the hole, but I'm a little worried about how the stain might take. I was thinking of carving off a bit of the basswood in the control cavity (its quite thick and there's a sticky outy bit there too.)

I've been trying to find a picture of Frank Hart's double neck since you started this thread, but all I've been able to find is the Joyride video.
I can't remember if his was a Gibbo or an Epi but he removed the and swapped the necks and replaced the pickups with Lace sensor Strat pickups. For many years I've though that arrangement of necks made more sense.

V cool. He said in a interview that he used a Gibson double neck SG for Joyride. He didn't really talk about the mods though
