You guys are life savers! I'd all but given up on the black binding, resigning myself to leaving it with a few yellow imperfections. Has anyone had any experience with using spray cans of polyurethane as a finish?

Hey mate, posted some advice on my build diary for you. As for poly clears from a can, I used Cabothane satin for my MB-1 (Wasp) build, and it worked a treat. Depending what you're looking for they have a satin (obviously, since I used it) and a gloss too. Both can be picked up at the big green shed for a relatively small fee, and you can get about three coats per can, so pretty good value.

Finally got it done guys! Didn't end up doing the binding black as I don't think I'd have the skill to get it perfect, nor did I put a coat of poly on. It's still a bit tacky, but the local luthier has given me a bit of advice to get it perfectly dry, I'm just giving it a few weeks for the weather to heat up a bit.

She sounds like a dream! Honestly cannot believe it, the exact tone I wanted out of her. The wiring was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be, although it took me a good few hours, it was quite enjoyable. Took her to her first 'gig' on Friday at Uni and she performed perfectly all night, no matter who was playing her. Can't say when, but I am definitely keen to get my hands on an Ash Strat kit next! Thanks so much for all the help from everyone, such a great sense of support on here. There's a few more photos with different lighting in my post in this months GOTM if you wanna have a look! Thanks again for everything guys!

    Luke

Beautiful looking guitar Luke, you must be stoked. Make sure you throw some pics up in the Gallery section in the LP-1SS thread.
