Thanks @Wokka, @Tony & @Gyro. @Gyro - the difference I think is that I have the concentrated Colortone from Stewmac. It helps alot with bursts and blending if you can mix up a really intense colour. Not as much water sloshing around. The burst still needs a little work, but I'm pretty happy with the way it's coming along.
cheers,
Gav.

The concentrate is good stuff. Are you using water or alchohol for your mixing base.
Tony
nice work Gav, you are obviously making the best of this one!
Thanks @Stan. @Tony - I use water just for ease of use.
cheers,
Gav.

Gav, you've nailed that burst looks absolutely sensational.

#Planning 5 String Bass
Great burst Gav. Just a bit more work around the darker brown and she'll be rockin'.
Looks awesome! Nice burst.
Geez Gav, that's turning into one damn fine 'burst! ... has to be one of the nicest and smoothest transitions I've seen in long time ... definitely a major contender for 'BOTY ('Burst Of The Year!)
... really like the progressive pics, too - they give a great perspective of the colour build-up.

Wait a minute ... that sounds like Rock and/or Roll!
SG-1 ... "Little Miss" finished in Flamenco Cherry Wudtone
TL-1A ... "Slugger" finished in Antique White Nitro
EX-1 ... "Metal God" finished in nickel-plate (work in progress)
ST-1A ... "Scrapper" stained and finished in linseed oil ... and with the "secret weapon"
GR-1SF ... "Rocker-billy" (just arrived, work in progress)
what a beauty Gav, whats your plan for the finish?
