"I'm also trying to figure out how to rig up something in my house to hang the guitar from while drying between clear coats. Planning on lots and lots of wipe on poly coats, so i would prefer to do the whole thing each coat. Any innovative ideas on this?"

I use a "lolly-pop stick" screwed into the neck pocket for the body, and a similar stick on the back of the neck heel for a maple fretboard neck (I don't bother for the rosewood fretboard necks, I rest these on a plastic food container). I have the body stick held in my bench vice (actually the vice is on a saw horse so that I can move it around the garage!) so that I can do all sides in one sitting. The neck is clamped onto a little work bench. Some of the lolly-pop sticks have a hook cut into the handle end so that I can hang them from a clothes rack. Painted the wings and vines this morning. The white is pearlescent, so they really pop in person as the light hits them. I think I'm going to let it sit for a few days and look at it with fresh eyes. Guess that means it's time to work on the neck and headstock! Here's where I'm at now:

From there, went to the hardware store and got an appropriately sized hook that wouldn't give my strap buttons grief when I screwed them in (something like this) https://www.homedepot.com/p/OOK-1-1-...4265/301942177

Then I used two zip ties and secured a paint hook to the clothing rack: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Anvil-Sw...-ANV/309996846

and finally, I squeezed the small hook with pliers just slightly around a carabiner. It made it really easy to hang, move, spray. Whatever I needed. This rack is the perfect size to hang a guitar. I used some free weights to make sure it was secure, but that was mostly because I was using the rack to spray outside in a tent in a very windy area.

LexLuthier- this is kind of what i had originally envisioned! I am so glad it worked for you. If I had somewhere to store a rack like that, it definitely would have been the way i went.

I ended up building a rotisserie spit out of some lumber and pvc piping. I found a video tutorial online, and the guy did it in 20 min. It took me 2 days and several trips to the hardware store, BUT i now have the guitar mounted and ready for a bazillion layers of polyurethane. This is going to make things so much easier! That looks amazing. With headstock shape you could almost replicate the left Angel wing and paint in detail.
