Yes, that is why I was fond of using Tru-oil.

Today the weather has been a bit cooler, so I have sprayed a red burst and got some final coats on. The red for the burst was Ubeaut water-based red dye mixed in with Cabot's water-based Poly. This seemed to have worked!

Thanks Fender3x. I have put down another 5 coats today - that should be enough!

Today I have made a template for the Tele bass pickguard. I have based it on the style of a thinline guard. It is made from 12mm mdf. There is only a volume and tone for the controls!

And one completed pickguard. Routed out using a straight pattern following bit, and then the edges are angled using a chamfer moulding 45 degree pattern following bit.

Today I have given the body and headstock a wet/dry rub from 1200 to 2000 g, polished them with Kustom Creations Kustom Grit step 1 (cutting compound), and step 2 using a Random Orbital Polisher and micro-fibre pad. I then applied Maguire’s Ultimate Compound and then Scratch X with the Polisher and micro-fibre cloth.

Today I have repeated the polishing process on the front as I was not very happy with yesterday's result! Wet-sanded again to 2000 g, polished with Kustom Creations grits, and finally Maguire's Ultimate compound and Scratch x. A lot happier.

I liked it before. Shinier now. Great color...and love the glasslike finish. Something to aspire to ;-)

    Thanks fender3x.

I have now assembled the Victorian Ash tele bass. I splashed out and got a Seymore Duncan Quater Pound Single Coil pickup. Electronics is volume and tone only. Strings are D'Addario exl160's. The strings were added, rough tuned, allowed to settle. Then the rough setup was completed, rested, and final setup completed. Headstock logos are Cricut vinyl stickers. The other hardware was from a PB JB hardware kit. The neck is also from PB.
