Hi Arthur, in answer to your second question: the strings are part of the whole pickup system and if they don't have an earth (via the bridge), you will get noise.

Just purchased a ES-2V and have sanded and stained it . Sanded it to a silky smooth finish applied the stain and "voila"
glue stains all over. I have read the posts and this seems to be a real problem. The glue looks like it has penetrated right into the veneer. I am now starting again and will try your solution with the wire brush but there is a real risk of cutting through the thin veneer. The other question is about glueing on the neck. What sort of glue,does it need to be clamped.
