If it was me, I'd go with paint for the top ala Barge's Blacktop. But, it sounds like Gav has something up his sleeve.![]()

yeah wonder what Gavmiester has up his sleeve to remove all that glue.
another option Bman is to sand the cap off, see what the mahogany looks below and if not that exciting you could glue one of your own veneers to the top

B-man will share what we did. Hold off doing any work on the spalty... Don't get us wrong. The glue came from underneath the cap THROUGH the cap and could not be removed. But the results we achieved are nothing short of sensational.
