Hey Tony. I'm sure I could hear you swearing from my place
I like the shimmery-ness of the two colours together, it looks a bit like an old 2 cent coin (yes, young 'uns there used to be 1 & 2 cent coins).
What is the other guitar that your putting the cherry flamenco on? I've forgotten - getting old, you know.

    Hi Lawry
The cherry flameco was for an IB5 (have to order some more now). The tarnished copper look was what I was hoping for once i started mucking around after applying the first coat of CF.

Finally had an opportunity to get back to doing some work on this guitar. Added two coats of BMW base over the top of the existing colour to dampen the red a bit and now happy with colour and ready to start clear coating.
Now to finish headstock and hopefully by next weekebnd can start assembling.
I reckon you've nailed that body colour, it looks great! Are you going the same style for the headstock or a flat colour?

Well started on the headstock and dont think it is going to work out using the same method as the guitar body and get it dark enough so will have to sand back and rethink. Might go solid paint colour but may look at a darker walnut style stain. Want it dark so that the logo I want to start using will stand out (werewolf outline is plagiarised ,but hey wasnt bolted down).

Ahhh, the perennial problem of Wudtone not liking Rock Maple....
There are a few workarounds, one is to sand to 240 grit so you have a good "tooth" and DONT steel wool between coats.
Apply the coats very thinly and give them a few days to dry between.

The other work around is to find a suitable coloured stain from you know where- I wont send you to the Naughty Room, this time -
Strip back the Wudtone, give it a coat of said stain leave it for a few days and try the Wudtone again....

That logo looks familiar is it a DePaul from Vietnam? If so, I would highly recommend getting hold of the real thing as they are extremely well made and the Gold Mother of Pearl would totally rock on the colour scheme

There is always a workaround for glitches, mistakes and other Guitar building gremlins.....

    Hi DB
Yep it is a DePaul. Thought about the inlay thing, little bit daunting but would probably look better than decal.
Will have to think on that one. Have the dremel and SM router base and bits. Would have to have a go sometime I suppose

It is easier than you would think
Start by cutting out the interior bulk with the larger router bit then slowly go up to the outline with the little one.

If, or in my case, when you overshoot the line dont panic as you can back fill around the inlay with sanding dust and a drop of thin super glue.
Alternately you can colour up a smidge of timbermate and back fill that way.

Finally had a chance to get back into this build (thinking of changing my last name to Leyland)

So now wired up and ready to fit and drill neck tommorow. Still sorting decals and then can finish her off.

Looking good Tony. And once I grow an extra finger I'll come round and have a play (if it's OK with you). Never tried a seven string.
