The neck and body have rested for 2 weeks, so should be well and truly cured.

I rubbed down the w/b poly satin neck with a very fine Scotchbrite pad.

The body and the headstock (w/b poly gloss) were wet sanded with 1200g, 1500g, and 2000 g. I then applied Kustom Creations Kustom Grit step 1 (cutting compound) by hand, and step 2 using a Random Orbital Polisher and micro-fibre pad (I will need to get some foam pads for it!). I then applied Maguire’s Scratch X with the Polisher and micro-fibre cloth. Final polish with wool pad on the Polisher. They have polished up much better than any of my other builds.

The first picture is with no polish, second after cutting compound, third after Scratch X.

Careful with the wool pad. They are one of the most aggressive pads in the polishing spectrum and can easily build up a lot of heat and melt/mar the finish rather than shine.

Sorry, Pretend wool. But good to know.

Added the neck, tuners, electronics, bridge and pickguard. I have used a Custom made, hand wound ’51 single coil Pickup with ironbark cover from the House of Rabbit (thanks again Rabbit, it looks great). The electronics have been testing with a "tap" test and all seems good so far.

The picture is a bit dark. But you get the idea.

Looks great! Love the knots and the pickguard choice.

As to the pickup, I knew there would be a market for those pickups! Good to be right! Will look forward to hearing a review...and maybe a sound sample?

Strings are on, and rough tuned. I will leave it for a bit to let it all settle.

Hope you'll do a sound sample. If it sounds half as good as it looks, it'll be great ;-)

After sitting for a week, I have:
Adjusted the truss rod so as to straighten the neck,
    Added some D'Addario strings,
Adjusted the string action and intonation.

Also plugged it in, and it sounds like a bass Very happy with the way it sounds. I'm not sure if I'm up to a sound sample.

So, a HUGE thankyou to Rabbit for the one-off '51 p bass single coil pickup with an ironbark cover. It is a great success. I'm very impressed with it. If you set up production, I will order some more.
