    Ponch's ES5-V

Cheers Guys. Decal now on, I'll leave 24hrs to dry before top coating it (with spray on poly)

The kit supplied P90 literally fell apart and is unusable. Luckily I found a GFS P90 in my stash. I had to enlarge the pup hole slightly to accommodate it. There is a slight gap between the body and pup due to arch on top. I'll fashion up a spacer ring to help with this. The pup needs to be raised a bit towards the strings anyhow

And last job all holes enlarged for new pots and hole for earth drilled behind the tailpiece hinge

Nice logo Ponch. Good save & recovery through having a spare P90 on hand.

That decal is awesome! It has become a great build Andrew! Luckely you had another P90 at hand but how come that the stock PU fell apart?

    Cheers Guys.

The decal is from Rothko & Frost (I had a bunch of them made up sometime back). It's based on the 'Les Paul Custom' sticker on Gibbo headstocks (the one that runs up the middle of the headstock) with the 'Custom' part cut off. It's a nice and delicate transfer with a gold shimmer.

The stock P90 - cable fell out, the base plate was very loose (screws couldn't be tightened & were damaged). I'm going to use the cover to fashion a spacer for the new one so all not lost!

Sorry about the funky background colour it's a recycled pink yoga mat that now tops my workbench

The top bridge is the stock one

Hi Andrew. Question about the bridge. The stock one has a deeper concave bottom than the new one you bought.
With my es2v ive noticed that mine also has a quite deep concave base. It doesn't sit neat on the body of the guitar.
    Q. Is it possible to sand the stock bridge to fit more snugly to the body? Or would it flatten out as the strings apply downward pressure ?
    What Gould you have done?

    Ps. Loving your build.

Cheers Oli. I would think it's possible to sand the bridge base to fit the body contours. See this Stewmac tutorial. They use a jig but don't see why you cannot apply same technique without it

You'd have to be careful not to take too much of the base of bridge away if string clearance is an issue

Wiring harness 90% complete. I'm putting final poly topcoats over headstock decal so if the moons and planets align final assembly this Sunday...

    Ponch's ES5-V

'Tis ready for assembly tomorrow. Wiring is all in place, tested and awaiting the (frustrating...) task of threading through the body

I would have completed this evening but casting my mind back to my previous hollow build reminded me to put a small dab of glue on the grippy washer thingies that have a habit of dropping off inside the body during the process. So I'll wait until dry tomorrow
