Interesting about your experience with the Septone. That was my preferred rattle can lacquer before I moved on to a spray gun.

I always recommended it over the Duplicolor clear. That's the one I had issues with.
I have been using the SCA clear in my gun though.

Loving the colour on your finish, KC. I'm aiming to get a similar but darker effect for my daughter's upcoming project (read: she's demanding it), but on an ST kit.

Do you think the alcohol ink has anything to do with the Tru-oill not hardening? Would you recommend sticking with india ink?

Hi dozymuppet. I'm not having problem with the Tru-Oil.
It's the Septone Clear Gloss on the neck that's not drying.
The alcohol ink is O.K. under the Tru-Oil and I got it for $4.00 a bottle from Riot! Art & Craft.

    cheers, Mark

Probably a bad batch, as they couldn't make products that normally didn't dry and survive as a company. I'd take the can back.

I've got a couple of dodgy cans of clear nitro that seem to throw up an iridescent film on the top as the lacquer dried (not moisture hazing, this is different) which I've thrown away. Big stuff I get the spray gun out for, but for the odd small bit, I find cans easier and more immediate.

Hi Simon. Yes it could just be a bad batch. Not going to mean much to me though as I'm not going to find out.

    Had another swing at youtube.
Spend so much time testing the whistles and bells then forget about the performance.
I'll aim for better lighting next time also.

    Thanks Fretworn.
I'm not keen on any form of distortion lately. I feel it masks a multitude of sins.

    cheers, Mark.

Nice, but I'm afraid I couldn't here any bells or whistles in that clip. I must be going deaf.

I can see it was in the both pickups on, position, but I don't know what the pickups themselves were selected as. It sounded fairly thick, so I presume that was both in humbucker mode?

Maybe a demo just giving the different sounds available, as you've got 9 possible combinations with that switching arrangement?

Yeah hehe. 'bells and whistles' was all the video editing and youtube hoops you have to jump through.
Incidently, I noticed 'copyrighted material detected...not for monetized' or somesuch.
Thing is, it was applied to the video I was uploading, like some instant copyright scanner.

My ears can't pick up much difference between the switches myself. I spent a bit of time with my Vox Pathfinder, but yes, apart from slight difference in volume (I am assuming it's different rails turned off)

I think only a true test would be to use full size humbuckers.

    cheers, Mark.
