Neck set up is just about done..
Found a few frets that sat a bit high so being a pedantic bugger (my Miss Fe would say anally retentive) about these things I tried to re seat them..
As it turned out, they would not play ball so I did my favorite thing... Yhep, I ripped 'em all out and re profiled the fret board and re cut the slots...
Then my not so fave thing, I replaced the frets (only because Guitar players have a thing about speed bumps )and now am half way through polishing them.

Now, with the stains there are some things that are beyond my control.
I cannot always guarantee that each batch of stain powders I get will be exactly the same as the previous batch.
How ever, I do try to adjust the mix to match as closely as possible the previous batch.

I now buy my stains by the kilo, so there shouldn't be any issues around differences for a very long time....

Ahh DB you are a gentleman! and everything else? it is what it is, i will have to spin you a coil or 2.

I am not in any rush, i am heading to the goldfields Thursday week to spend some me time in the bush, i will be back home on the Monday. Hopefully i can walk over some nice nuggets, or get a hole in my pocket from walking into the detector shop up in the Golden triangle, tis now the season to hunt for gold

Also i started this thing, i got a Barden bridge for it today and its the only one i can find that will fit. Its a 2010 standard tele goes by the name of Wild Bill, you will see why when i get a bit further into it.

Hmmmm, now there is an offer thats hard to refuse....

I do have a Bass project lurking on the periphery that might need a big phat and juicy sounding Jass style pup for the bridge possie...
Something that wiil destroy small cities and scare old ladies and children is what I have in mind...
Infact, something that would make Oliver Reidel of Rammstien run away and hide

Do you want bridge and neck?
    A5 magnets
A vintage bevel on the pole pieces
    Black flatwork
    Do you want covers?

    and over wound of course

Was thinking of just one bridge... But two at the bridge could be more evil... Some kind of nasty humbucking type of set up if thats doable without causing the earth to implode

A5's with or without bevel, I would be happy to leave that to you.
    Black flatwork, no covers.
Definitely overwound... Be interested as to how far you could push it without them sounding like Cerebus trying to pass a kidney stone......

DB the original windings were 9000 turns, they dropped back to around 7200 in 1972, i was thinking 9000+ 5 or 10%, see what i can get on the bobbin, kick those Henries out a bit

Let me know when your going to start your project, i will be away a bit over the next 6 weeks but can get it all ready to go.

Surely for the full homage to the underworld guardian, such a bass would need three pickups, and would need to be strung with live pythons. Not to mention wired with cable made from the melted armour of fallen heroes of legend, and stained with the rich juice of persimmon cut by the bitter tears of Persephone herself and water drawn from beneath the very lips of Tantalus?! Fretted with wire wrought from melted coins, prised from the clammy hands of Charon the Ferryman?

Or am I over thinking this build?
