Like you, I know how to set up a Strat for a floating bridge.

Until I get a answer to my question, I'll reserve judgement on that Trem bridge design.....But IMHO, after going to every available site that shows the design.... it's premise is based more on mass than lessening the string break angle at every possible point, which is the WANT when using a tremolo.

Oh....that's a fairly easy one to answer, the ball ends are held where the bottom arrow is, inside the sustain block where the strings pass through it, you can see that the hole diameter has been enlarged for part of it's length, this creates a ledge which the ball end sits against under string-tension, this serves to anchor the string so that it can be pulled up to pitch by the tuning machine.

    Are you sure?

You don't have the Babicz in your hands...... the person I asked in the post I mentioned Does.

No disrespect meant, but I want the info from the Horses mouth [those that actually are dealing with the unit].

If you are looking at buying the same, surely you are wanting to know

Have a look where the ball-ends are (those pieces of brass at the end of the strings) (the middle arrow, I didn't notice the arrow right at the bottom since it's hard to see it against the background colour), now where those ball-ends are is a ledge that they sit on, that's what anchors the ball-ends.

Actually, I dont have one here nor have I really looked closely at one.
Unlike some people, I don't profess to know everything and when I want to find out the specs of something I go directly to the manufacturer.

There is always a workaround for glitches, mistakes and other Guitar building gremlins.....

So,after some thought, and with some suggestions from wokka, I'm going to go with "Doc's Guitars" as part of my headstock logo, with some kind of line-drawing of a mad scientist to go with it, having settled on a design-concept for a logo, I'm guessing that I need to use some kind of graphics/illustrating software to do the actual designing, hmmmmmm....I might see if I can do it in OpenOffice.org

I've just been doing some googling for some royalty-free line drawings of a mad scientist and found at least two websites with some really cool images so far.

    Stay tuned for more updates.

    WooHoo!!!!

I just got a notification in my email saying that my PBG STA-1M kit is on it's way to me, the wait will be worth it, I'm pretty keen to see what the body and neck is like straight out of the box, I will be sure to document the unboxing with some pics, next fortnight I'm planning on buying a new Digital Camera to replace my old Canon A480 that chews through batteries like nobody's business.

I don't actually have a Babicz bridge.....yet, I am planning on upgrading the gold Strat bridge I get in my PBG STA-1M kit to a Babicz bridge at a later stage when I can afford one.

I looked into the break angle from the trem bridge thing a while ago for my Frankienstrat build, as well as getting rid of all the other break string angles as possible.

I ended up getting some GOTOH HAPM tuners... these are infinitely height adjustable, great tuners, but I had to import them, and they have their idiosyncrasies ....but, what I mean is, get staggered tuners, plenty cheaper than the ones I bought.....you can get rid of one friction point by using them.... and that's the string trees.

The BEST find though, was the Trem bridge.... it ticks all the boxes.
Solid steel trem block around 14mm thick, countersunk string holes in that trem block, result is that the end of you strings wrap wires are protuding out of the saddles, result is a very shallow string break angle... buy the way the string saddles are solid steel as well.

So what brand is the trem bridge, as how many kidney's do you need to sell to get one ?

It's a Wilkinson 5 + 1 bridge made by GOTH Japan, current Aus price at Realtone is about AUS $65...push in trem arm adjustable by small screw at side of bridge ....it's the real deal...recommended.

With the Tuners and trem I can dive bomb to the max and up to the max, several times....let the trem arm go and the guitar will still be in tune.

I used to use the original Guitar player special editon mag Strat setup mag from 87 to set up my Strats

This guy in Italy that posted a series of videos on how to set up a Strat makes those look like nonsense.
Watch these videos,...... I thought I knew how to set up a Strat, and for years I did..but now after viewing these videos...Wrong...this guy will have your Strat set up better than you could ever imagine....you will love the spring tuning section using a digital tuner to get it exact, and repeatable.

I would like them to become a STICKY at the forum...please view then and post your views.
I have NO contact with this Italian guy at all....I just think he needs to be heard, as his video tutorials are brilliant.

Umm... I think you'll find that photo is the actual can of paint he's talking about. Not a beer bottle.
