great thread this one. I have too many favourite guitar players to list, but have to thank Angus/Malcolm Young and the Brewster brothers of the Angels for getting me interested in the sound of the electric guitar in my teens.
A few of my other favourite players are Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Gilmour, Slash, Bonamassa, Dimebag, Billy Gibbons, Randy Rhoads, SRV, EVH, Tom Morello just to name a few.
I also love all the early blues players were really the start of many awesome bands and genres.
I will go back and read this whole thread and watch some video links

Roy Sludge with Duke Levine on guitar ( sideman for many top artists )

Redd Volkaert ( with the wonderful Cindy Cashdollar ex Asleep At The Wheel on lap steel )

John Jorgenson with the Hellecasters ( also featuring Jerry Donahue and Will Ray ), he also does a lot of Django stuff

Yeah, we shouldn't forget to mention the Young brothers, I love the way they worked together so effectively in AC/DC, the Brewster brothers of the Angels too, I got into the Angels as I was growing up in the 90's cause my older brother was always playing their tapes in the workshop as we worked, definitely another one of the classic Aussie rock bands, what about the guys in Rose Tattoo?, or Midnight Oil?, Peter Garret was a great frontman for them.

@ dave,king1, Looks like I have some catching up to do, cheers for the links.

Great list guys - certainly some names that are new to me.
Glad to see someone else put Johnny Winter on the list
I'm also quite partial to Robert Cray - https://youtu.be/ilZPZawbw5w?t=2m7s
