Looking great so far andrewdosborne, what's the finish on the body?, it looks like translucent seafoam green to me.

Doc, it's actually azure sky Wudtone mixed 50/50 with white. But the basswood had a bit of green in it, and I've kind of fluked the seafoam green look quite unintentionally.

Nik - better than Xmas 😊

It does look cool though, I can see the woodgrain through the finish.

Yes, the shielding is a bit nuts! This was my first kit build and certainly overdid some things Lol.

I'll post another update soon. Schoolboy error with the wiring, all done but I forgot to solder the lug to pot case on the volume arrrrggh. Apart from that sounds awesome!

If you run out of copper shielding tape for your next build you can use ordinary Aluminium Kitchen Foil that's used to wrap food in for cooking, I've used it to shield the scratchplate of a Strat copy in the past.

Can't wait to hear the comparison sound demos. The first demos you did were already sounding pretty good. Love to hear you rip into some SRV with those new pups.

    Offending lug ready for solder...

This is the first time I've wired a strat from scratch. It's given me a greater appreciation in its overall design and how fender evolved on from the tele design.
