Thanks fretworn, i really admire your work, so thanks for your kind words.

In this case being brave is the only way to go, better not to fear any job. Anyway, this is the second model i've reshape the headstock, and its more easy than it looks, plus there are so many tutorials on internet to show you easily, and its so much fun. Only needs a good japanese saw, determination and a very clear image of what you want to accomplish.

ok, afternoon update.
I did remove fretwire very very carefully and then take off the neck binding with "a little help from my friend" the heatgun and a razorblade, then sand out, marked the new cavities for inlays with a pencil. Then, masking tape to separate them and cut with a finest japanese saw with extremely care.





Time to dremel out and 2mm CNC bit, taking care to not trespassing the lines marked with our previous saw cuts. I finally decided to put on a 1.5mm celuloid inlays (white, cream or MOP not decided yet)

Little advance on the fretboard. Got the pearl celluloid sheet (here named "nácar") and cut the triangles with a razorblade helping out with a ruler, 1, 2, 3 passes, and twist it a little bit up and down and....nice clean cuts...Sanding on a flat surface and we got it...

Masking tape off...this is what we achieved with the saw, more clearly.

As you know, sheet celluloid its so flexible, so you can dremel the holes directly over the radius fretboard. Then, better bend before gluing with the heat gun, specially more square ones. (3, 5, 7 ,9, 12 frets, not so much needed for 15, 17, 19)



Fits perfect, so, epoxy bicomponent and clamps..



Maybe not going to need any sides refill by how well it fits, but, we will see...
Iam anxious to complete the entire fretboard, but got to travel this weekend, so next working day on monday.. mental building this next 2 days..

Hi guys..

I've been busy on different home duties and no time for wood, but keep doing from time to time the inlay reshaping, almost finish, and ripped off the body binding..
By the way, i've been thinking about the finish, and i would go to black solid color, and as always this is the most tricky part to me.
As a Ash body we got in hands, what steps would you recomend? grain filling? sealing? As for now, i think about, grain filling, white primer, and black rattle can from HOuse of Kolor, then clear acrylics from HOK too.

Im considering this type of finish too...in black of course.

Hi Sansan, sure I'd grain fill the ash body as the grain is fairly coarse, it may need two passes of grain filler. Prime and then colour coats. That photo is a stain as you can see the grain. Solid paint you won't be able to see the grain so you might consider a stain instead if you want the grain to show
