@Wokks - nah the neck is for my current Les Paul build.
I havent started on the neck for this one yet. better get cracking!
I was thinking either vintage yellow or natural with a black headstock face to match the scratchplate..

@Stan - it depends on how many coats. I just wait for it to stop smelling.
The trick is to have another build going to take your attention

@Andrew - thanks dude. Yeah I'm looking forward to playing this one!

    cheers guys,
    Gav.

Thanks Gav, I was interested so I could look up the drying times to compare with what I'm using. I'm assuming it's the White Knight rattle can, where it is touch dry in 15 mins, respray after an hour? They don't suggest a curing time in their data sheet, but it's a lot slower drying than the Septone Clear I used, which is 10 mins between coats.

PS... I've been smelling my guitar since I sprayed it yesterday

Edit... Looking at the MSDS for the same brand products, aerosol Vs bulk amounts (for thinning) shows some differences in the chemicals used. Does using aerosol cans mean longer curing due to the chemicals used? Something added to prevent it drying in the can, perhaps?

It could be as simple as changing the density so it sprays better

Yeah not sure Swanny. The sniff test doesn't lie, no matter what the thinners and agents! I generally try to wait as long as possible, but when I'm feeling particularly impatient I have an outdoor heater here from the big green shed to keep things moving along.

    cheers,
    Gav.

    Hey guys,

Ok after 2 weeks curing, today I managed to get the previous White Knight coats levelled with 600 grit and sprayed two final coats. I'll leave these to cure so they'll be ready for final cut and polish in a month or so. I really have had sooo many issues with the ash and the acrylic this time around, and it's almost sent me round the twist. Bubbles ruining the finish and so on. Not sure what I'm doing or not doing, but I really don't want another repeat. Anyway home straight now I hope.

    cheers,
    Gav,
