(Silly) Question 1: why is there a half routed hole in the heel of the neck?

Question 2: there's a bit of a gap in the pictured inlay, I am not really sure how to fix this, anyone had a similar issue and fix?

Question 3: there's a bit of a gap in the body at the neck end of the cutaway, the binding sticks out a bit. It will be covered by the fret board and the neck heel but may still visible looking from the back. Any ideas on how to fix/cover it, should i even bother?

good questions Andy, I presume the half circle in the neck heel is the way the router bit has cut all the way across to get a square edge.
Question 2, you really need to see if you can remove the inlay that is a bit too low. You will risk breaking the inlay so may be up for a new one. Never seen this problem on a G type neck.
The slightly higher binding won't be a problem when the neck is glued in place, as long as the neck heel is making full contact with the bottom of the neck pocket should be fine. If the binding is preventing this then sand or cut the binding flush.
Thats right karijini, all these build diaries hard to remember all the info !

Q1. Your guess is as good as anyones....
Q2. Pro fixup would be to rip em all out and replace with real Paua or MOP.. Otherwise it might not be so noticable when you have oiled the fingerboard...
Q3. File off that sticky outy bit. You may also need to sand a bit off the top edge to get the neck sitting correctly.
These set necks can take a little fiddling around to get them nice and flush, but more importantly square to the bridge!

There is always a workaround for glitches, mistakes and other Guitar building gremlins.....

That is one of the coolest spalts I have seen so far on this forum Andy, killer score! The red should go well with something like Nullabor Ochre, just to really darken up that nice body.

So after a month or so of sneaking out at night to sand the mahogany, I was "allowed" a day to work on the build. To my horror, in the daylight, I noticed scratches on the sides still!!! well they had to go. Click image for larger version.

I decided with this build if i wasn't 100% happy with it ..I would not progress. Sanding in daylight still required.
