I have had similar issues with my EX-5 and just put it down to more humidity in South East Qld perhaps? DT stain coats went on fine then applied intensifier a couple of times but started to notice what looked like dust particles had been attracted to it whilst slightly damp? After Woks suggested light 0000 steel wool between coats that took care of the dust particles but it still had similar dry matt patches like Damo's guitar. Applied a top coat and probably had cotton square a bit too wet and it ended up with a few runs here and there. Went to lightly sand with 0000 steel wool again and the finish just rolled up in little gummy balls all over the place as if it had not dried properly? It had been left to cure for more than 10 days in what was pretty stable conditions. Ended up having a go with 400 grit as mentioned above and it only made things worse so had to go wet & dry which took things back a long way as if there was only one stain coat applied.
Put another stain coat on almost 2 weeks ago and intensifier on last Sunday. Was going to do some work on it today but the finish still felt as that it had not cured and nowhere near able to take a light 0000 steel wool.
Is this what you would normally expect when using DT? Can't wait to give it one more hit of intensifier then get on with the top coats as I am getting sick of just looking at it hanging around to properly cure. Also wondering if the Dingo Wax can help solve some of the blemishes and harden the surface as what I have experienced so far has me a bit concerned.
