    If you palm mute regularly, they are a damn sight more comfortable on the hand than a regular TOM. I've used them and not found any obvious drawbacks, so if they cut down on string breakage at all (fewer sharp edges has got to be a good thing there) that's a win/win situation in my opinion.

    I'm working on a old Maton archtop at the moment with a high end Schaller STM roller bridge (retrofitted of course) and it is the tits.
