Welcome Tweaky. There are a few Sydney siders here, I'm not sure if there are any inner-city dwellers though.
For the few kits I've had the necks have had D profiles, but this means there is enough meat for you to hit it with some 80 grit and shape it into a smoother C (my fav) or a V if that takes your fancy. I think some of the IB style kits have slimmer "speed" necks.
    Current:
    GTH-1

    Completed:
    AST-1FB
First Act ME276 (resurrected curb-side find)
    ES-5V
    Scratchie lapsteel
    Custom ST-1 12 String
    JBA-4
    TL-1TB
    Scratch Lapsteel
    Meinl DIY Cajon
    Cigar Box lap steel

    Wishing:
    Baritone
Open D/Standard Double 6 twin neck

Thanks for pointing that out Fretty

Just dragged a few necks out that were lurking in dark corners of the workshop and yep.. Some are D and others are C profile.

There is always a workaround for glitches, mistakes and other Guitar building gremlins.....

    Thanks for the welcome guys.
I don't know if anybody has visited the Kinman pick-up site recently, but he has recently started a new NONE noise cancelling line of pick-ups called WARRIORS....hence me thinking these are what PitBull are offering as options with the kit's.
[Seeing he is very protective of his patent's and naming rights etc, rightly so...if you know how much it cost's to file a Patent....I'm surprised if Warriors, if not Kinman made, would be allowed to still be called Warriors if Greg got wind of this...just a heads up]

Regarding necks, I don't mind a chunky neck...easier to taper to choice, than to have a skinny neck you can't do anything with due to lack of wood.

As for what would be my first build....mmmm......I was thinking either a ES3 or ES1, but either or both fitted with Kinman HXP90's.[Humbuckers are just Gibsons unsuccessful attempt to cure the Hum from a P90]

What concerns be with the proposed build is the difference in wood used as a centre block in the ES 1, Basswood, being a low density wood, used as a centre core, [Gibson use a Maple block for the same]....possible excessive Feedback [in comparison] is a concern.
I've already planned to insert some brass discs into the centre block to deaden the feedback frequencies if proves to be a problem....I don't know as yet, so I guess I'll find out when testing against my ES347, which takes ear shattering levels to feedback, but also weighs a ton.

I would also like to build a Bass..... I was originally looking at purchasing a Fender Areodyne Bass, which seems to me combines both Precision and Jazz bass attributes.
Not being a Bass player, a question to those that are, what PitBull kit is recommended I get that I could do similar with?

    One question in general.
I've looked at the builds people have done.....Have some kits been & gone? [no longer available]

From memory the Aerodyne shape is similar to a jazz bass, from the top, but from the heel looking up at the neck, has a different wedge shaped profile. The pickups are a P Bass for the neck and a Jazz bass for the bridge. At a guess (not being a Fender expert), but having built the odd bass kit (another low ender here) - cheapest option - jazz bass, re rout the neck pickup to fit a P Bass pickup and then make a new pickguard from a sheet of acrylic. Next option - as above - see if you can order a pickguard from Pablo Pepper (member with the gear to do nice pickguards) or a local signmaker. Possibly most expensive option (in the short term) - custom order through Adam. Would be the most expensive (short term) as it would be a custom job and would cost more for Adam to get it built. Medium to longer term if there is enough interest, Adam may be able to organise a run, which does drive down costs. Check the new kits section for Aerodyne or start a new thread to see if there's any interest.

In terms of kits being and going - when you get down to the number of kits that Adam stocks, to keep all in stock all of the time would cost a bomb not only in capital outlay for the kits, but also in storage. As such I think Adam tries to keep stocks of most of the kits, but can organise runs of others as specials - if it's on the Pitbull page, it should be available - there may just be a wait. I'm not sure if there are any lines that have been ended, but I could be wrong. There may also be some lines that will only be special orders as Adam has stocked them in the past and they take ages to move. Best bet is to drop a line to Adam at Pitbullguitars dot com, or start a thread about a specific kit...

    Hope that helps!

I'm trying to get my head around who this Greg fella is, Chris is the only Kinman involved in making pickups that I am aware of.
