I seems I have a Bass player replying to a question regarding a Guitarist question.

No offence intended, but could a 6/7 string Guitarist please answer.

I would love to learn/want to play BASS....looking at what's available, and the knowledgeable people here ...it's inevitable it will happen

Tweaky - DB (short for DingoBass) is a luthier - who spends his time building both guitars and basses. While his preference is basses (hence the name) the information he's given is pretty spot on. Check out his FB page (https://www.facebook.com/dingocustomluthiers?fref=ts) will show a couple of guitars that he's building / built. I'd cherish a DB built guitar any day... .

I absolutely refuse to have anything to do with Farcebook ....it's like getting Turd's in your letterbox

I think you share that opinion with DB .

Here's one of his guitars - his "Axe of Destiny".

Spalted Maple top...pick up's ....[I saw those in another post ]..... Looks cool...sort of a circa 1989 B.C.RICH body shape [No bad thing]

    Would I install a locking nut?...No, I wouldn't

I've sorted enough locking bridges to know they are not worth the effort, I could install a classic strat trem and get the same results, you could dive bomb and pull up and my setup would not go out of tune...100%

OT: Anybody here asked Greg Kinman for a contra deal....Think about it .
He's got a new range of NONE noise cancelling pickups about to hit the market.
    WARRIORS.

Oh stupid me.....Pitbull is the same .......Nice to see Aussies sorting it out!!!

One Question.....Pitbull/Kinman...difference?......Greg, you don't want to appear to be charging a fortune for same pickups at your site.

Difference? Yes. Not too sure what you're getting at here, Tweaky. Pitbull sell guitar kits and accessories, Chris Kinman makes some of the finest pickups available. Two very separate entities.

    Welcome along.

welcome Tweaky, so what kit are you going to build ?
You can always reshape the neck if the profile doesn't suit your preference.
    Current Builds and status
scratch end grain pine tele - first clear coat on !
    JBA-4 - assembled - final tweaks
Telemonster double scale tele - finish tobacco burst on body and sand neck

    Completed builds
scratch oak.rose gum Jazzmaster - assembled needs setup
    MK-2 Mosrite - assembled - play in
Ash tele with Baritone neck - neck pup wiring tweaks and play in

    Hi Tweaky,
DB is a bassist yes, there are a few of us here. But mind you, some of us also play guitar (including myself and Pablopepper).
DB's work is quite astonishing and very professional for someone who builds at home. Building a kit is nothing like scratch building, scratch building is a whole different animal. These kits are designed for anyone to build, whether you have never touched raw wood in your lifetime or if you are like Dingobass and build guitars and basses all the time.

Also there is absolutely nothing similar between Chris Kinman and Pit Bull Guitars.
