Did that poor neck (on the clock) insult your mum, Wokka?

This is coming up super nice, dude. Loving all the different timbers.

cheers Pablo. When DB gave me the neck for the clock he said cut it in half I thought I couldn't bring myself to do it. Then 2 hours at a free booze sundowner made the job much easier when I got home. Popeye had the top sanded ready to route the cavity for the clock mechansim.
The other half a neck I'll display in the workshop next to the 4D sign. When I get time I'll shape the headstock and stain it

cheers Stan, yeah not many people that would have a double bound tazzy blackwood tele clock ! I told DB never to bin another body.
Yeah as soon as I saw that jam wood at the timber bloke it screamed fretboard. Glad I got the blonde sap in there.
I forgot to mention DB talked me into making this a fretless guitar so should be interesting. Will just put side dot markers on each fret location.

got a bit more done over the weekend. Saturday routed pup cavities after Freo narrowly beat the Swans. Yesterday got the control and switch cavities routed. Covers roughly shaped out of the jam wood and recessed. Bit more shaping to do and they should fit snug. Wanted to get all the routing and recesses done before final body shaping and sanding

so I went with the white sap on one side of the covers so it will be on the same side white sap as the fingerboard when upright.
Friday night got the headstock shaped and a veneer glued on for the 4D mascot half neck !
Plan is for 2 volumes and a master tone. Put the switch on the lower horn as Jazzys have them there.

The fret bored is amazing. How easy is it to build a neck from scratch.

cheers Ben. You got to track down some rock maple for the neck and a hardwood for the finger BOARD. I was lucky and got DB to route the truss rod channel and the rough neck shape. I have done the rest. You need some specialised equipment and especially if you are installing frets. Then dot markers and radiusing blocks.
Might pay to buy a slotted and radiused fingerboard for your first scratch neck

Not sure I'd make the entire guitar fretless - it would be like trying to play an -out-of-tune guitar....maybe a bit of fun for a few minutes but a bit irritating thereafter?

I'd consider fretting the first 7 or 8 and fretless thereafter - that way you have all the fretless notes on the lead and can still play a proper chord without making anyone cringe in horror!
