    Hey guys, time for another update.

    I am now up to 45 hours on this build and have only just finished the body to rough sanding stage. I have not even looked at the neck yet.

    I am sure that I could reduce this by a fair margin but I have been enjoying the build and as this is my first scratch build I have been trying (unsuccessfully) not to make too many mistakes.

    After gluing the three piece body together my next job was to recess the control cavity for the cover. Seeing as I have plenty of wood to spare I thought I would do a matching pine cover. I couldn’t get the grain to match so thought that I might as well use a contrasting piece.

    Then on to body contours. I shied away for the usual “strat” type belly cut and went for something a little different. Looks quite subtle but just sitting there with the body on my lap it feels very comfy.

    Seeing as I could not use a neck plate I decided to go with ferrules and that gave me the opportunity to do a contour behind the lower horn that should give much better access to the higher frets.

    I will be using a Tune-o-matic bridge on this guitar but as there is no neck angle on a Tele I have to recess the bridge. Didn’t turn out too neat but it will be covered by the bridge, so I will not spend too much more time on it.

    “Not happy Jan” with the output jack access hole. Not even close to being centred. I drilled a pilot hole first but still managed to “walk” the spade bit off centre. Very amateurish: \

    So now I’m up to date. Still many hours of sanding to go, and trying to repair all the dings. You just have to look at pine the wrong way and you have a new blemish. If I can’t steam them out it looks like it will be pre-reliced.

    Just a couple of pics of the body as of today.

    Cheers guys

    @Woks
    Thanks Warren, the control cover does not not look so good on a close inspection, but then again, when I playing it no-one is getting anywhere near that area of my anatomy to check it out lol.

    @Arzi,
    Thanks mate, I'm doing my best.
