Shazz I agree with Fretty neck looking great. A tip is to insert the neck in the pocket and tape off the area that will be glued to the pocket and try not to get any clear on this area. The glue will adhere much better to raw timber.
What clear are you using on the neck DT ?
    Current Builds and status
scratch end grain pine tele - first clear coat on !
    JBA-4 - assembled - final tweaks
Telemonster double scale tele - finish tobacco burst on body and sand neck

    Completed builds
scratch oak.rose gum Jazzmaster - assembled needs setup
    MK-2 Mosrite - assembled - play in
Ash tele with Baritone neck - neck pup wiring tweaks and play in

Thanks boys!! I'm loving it!! The rock maple is just looking so mean!!
I didn't do the area of the neck that goes in the pocket, but didn't mark it out so could have possibly touched some of the gluing surface. I will mark it out from here on. Lucky I've only done the 1 coat! Thanks for the tip Wokka

And sorry! I'm using the final coat from my Uluru Red staining package. If it goes ok I'll leave it if not may have to sand it back and get the neck finish ... But it's feeling like it should be fine

What didn't you do o_O how did the coats end up? Are they dry now (not tacky) Mine seem to be all good, I left about 3-4 days between coats except when we had like an awesome week of weather and got 2 days in between!

masking.. I would do masking next time.

    the coat look great
    they arent exactlyu tacky, no
    nothing stick to them
but they are not glassy or enamel-ly as I would expect.
doesnt stop me loving it to bits now I have the play ability issues resolved.
